I’m so glad I didn’t see this before I went to Belize last year. Two days of relentless mosquitoes, unending humidity, and mud-slimed trails was enough to convince me that the JUNGLE WILL FUCK YOU UP.

“The Nuns’ Choir” perform in Herzog’s Cobra Verde, which was really not a good movie at all, but was saved in its final moments by these gorgeous ladies. That lead singer is dynamite!

I think that in general, I like Herzog’s crazy-man-vs.-the-jungle films better (among which Rescue Dawn can be counted), but there’s no denying that this is an excellent take on the hoary old vampire legend. The scenes of the rats swarming over the city of Wismar are particularly creepifying.
This isn’t on Netflix, sadly, but I will try to find it elsewhere for the upcoming Herzog film nights.
